We have just updated our Whip Accessories page with a few new items.
We now offer the Pecard Cream as well as the Dressing. Also, we are now offering both the whitehide and latigo falls in different thicknesses.

The Pecard Cream will absorb a bit more readily than the Dressing and is great on heavier leather items or to restore old leather that hes been neglected or abused. It is also a great way to prepare falls if you cut your own.

Here is a whip that has just been finished. It is 5 foot, 16 plait in black kangaroo with a sterling silver ferrule. Just one of the many custom whips we have made this year.

Kangaroo Skins

Tandy Leather Factory has a great sale on kangaroo skins right now! Any aspiring whipmaker should take advantage. Cost is just under $14 per sq. ft. down from $20.

We just returned from the Ferdco Leather Show in Pendleton, OR and the best price on 'roo there was over $17.

I'm holding 56 thongs for hunt whips which represent about 1 month's work. They are all 12 plait with plaited bellies. Half are 5 feet long and the other half are 6 feet long. It takes about 30 kangaroo skins to make this many whips.

Girl Scouts is an excellent humorous book for all ages and is tremendously entertaining.

The Ninth Hour is a fictional work about the Roaring Twenties and gangsters in Chicago and an excellent read as well.

Iron Man 2 Bullwhips

Here is the pair of whips we supplied for the movie Iron Man 2.

They are 6 foot whips made to our Australian Bullwhip pattern in white kangaroo with black in the knots.

16 Plait Indy In Saddle Tan

This custom whip is a 10 foot Indy whip in 16 plait saddle tan kangaroo.
16 plait is no less durable than 12 plait but the handling differences are amazing! It only requires a bit more skill to make correctly. The whip is finished with an 8 plait point. It breaks in readily and cracks very nicely!

Indy Raiders and Last Crusade Bullwhips

These are two bullwhips recently finished. It is interesting to note the subtle differences between them.

The above bullwhip is an 8 foot long Raiders pattern whip. The handle is thinner, about .8 inches and the decorative ring knot is darker and placed right at the 8 inch mark on the handle. The lash is a bit lighter as well with the diameter right about .9 inches where it leaves the handle.

The above bullwhip is an 8 foot Last Crusade pattern whip. The handle is a little thicker than the Raiders whip at .9 inches. Notice how the handle swells slightly into the decorative ring knot. The ring knot is placed slightly lower the handle at the 7 1/2 inch mark. The lash is heavier as well having a diameter of 1 inch where it leaves the handle.

Bracelet in Brandy and Yellow

Here is a bracelet I made some time ago that I thought I would share. It is a continuous 8 plait section with the terminations covered with pineapple knots and used as clasps. The body is joined in three places by additional pineapple knots.

Reintroducing the Mini Indy 4 Foot Bullwhip!

This whip has been very popular with enthusiasts and entertainers that must crack whips in a limited space.

We first designed and produced this whip over 15 years ago for a leading supplier in the USA. Since then it has been copied and produced elsewhere for less but as a result the quality was compromised. For the first time we are offering it directly to the public in the original uncompromising quality construction and materials that were first envisioned.

Zorro Whips

Here are some of the whips we supplied for The Legend of Zorro some years ago.

The 12 foot stunt whip is interesting with the 60 foot tech-12 core in that the core runs through a tube through the center of the whip. This enabled the stuntmen to slide the "whip" along the cable to any desired position. What appears to be the handle on this whip is not stiff.

We also supplied a 25 foot stunt whip of the same configuration.

1:4 Scale Miniature Bullwhip

Here is the latest Custom Whip. It is 1:4 scale with a 12 plait overlay tapering to an 8 plait point. The color is Saddle Tan.
The photos show a few of the steps including the plaited belly in the first photo just as in a full size whip. The last photo shows a comparison between the miniature and the handle of a full scale whip.

David Morgan

I have just returned from visiting David Morgan. I don't have any pictures to post because I did not bring a camera. I was just visiting a good friend.
It was very nice meeting Will Morgan, Alex and Meagan. I had not met any of them before because it has been close to 14 years since I have seen David in person. They are all wonderful people who do very nice work.

6 Foot Stockwhip

Here is a stockwhip just finished by Chris Strain. It is 6 foot 8 plait black kangaroo with a half plait toheti cane handle with 12 strands. It is a very good solid whip.
The set for the handle was a little uneven but was plaited and finished nicely. The uneveness is purely asthetic and will not affect the function of the whip in any way.
It cracks very, very well!
This whip will be in the Specials section of the site for a short while.

Custom Indy

Here is an 8 foot custom Indy that was just completed. It is 16 plait whiskey color. The action is beautiful and it cracks very loud very easily!

Here is a (almost) matched pair of 10 foot, 16 plait Indy Whips in Brandy color. It is very difficult to match a pair of whips like these but they are almost identical.
